Cerulean Nightlife RID

Cerulean Nightlife RID carries superior Irish Draught Horse genetics from both his dam and sire lines.    Cerulean Nightlife was inspected and approved by the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America in 2014 as a five year old.  At his inspection, his pedigree received the highest marks.  Cerulean's pedigree is full of many well known and respected Irish Draught horses both in the US,  Great Britain and Ireland.

On his Sire's side, Bridon Belfrey RID, there are several familiar names.  Snowford Bellman RID, his grand sire, was by Slievenamon and out of a mare by a stallion, Skippy.  This is noteworthy because Skippy sired many FEI event horses including  Jumbo, who in turn sired Headley Brittiania, Mr.Chunky, and Jollybo.  Cerulean's grand dam, Flagmont Belle RID, is by the well know Irish Show Jumper, Flagmont King, who sired many Grand Prix Show Jumpers and Upper Level Event Horses.

Even more impressive, is Cerulean's Dam, Roma Blue Hawk RID and her lineage.  She herself won many championships in hand  in Great Britain before being imported to the US.  She is a 2x Hornby Premium mare and incredibly, this is a trait on her dam side, as her dam, great dam, and great grand dam were all Hornby Premium mares!  Remarkably, Cerulean's Grand dam, Roma Blue Wind RID, is the most widely acclaimed mare in Irish Draught history being that she is the only 5x  Hornby Premium mare.  In addition, Roma Blue Wind RID,  was a Supreme Champion mare both in Ireland and Great Britain.  Her sire, Blue Henry RID was one of the most influential Irish Draught Stallions in his time producing  many successful Show Jumpers, Eventers, and Dressage Horses.   Cerulean's Grandsire, Rakish Paddy RID was a champion as well in both Ireland and Great Britain,  He was a competitive and successful Show Jumper in Europe earning him a  Grade "A" , which was  one of only two Show Jumper Irish Draught Stallions in the world at the time.

Cerulean Nightlife's progeny is all class with exceptional minds, willing and cooperative temperaments, excellent conformation, great bone and solid feet. For a big powerful horse, Cerulean is very agile and light on his feet and all his babies have this same quality.  Cerulean's beautiful refined head is remarkable for the breed and is evident in all of his offspring so far.  Not only are his babies beautiful, their athleticism is exceptional, with proven scope and form over fences and engaging gaits.  We love their friendly affectionate nature like their father most of all.

              Progeny Record

              2024

This year was a particularly tough year for a lot of breeders and it affected our farm as well.  For the first time, we lost two foals due to dystocia, one was a Rue baby and the other was a different stallion's.  Kali (Oh Behave Baby) did deliver a a beautiful colt Rue baby with assistance  that we are retaining as a Stallion Prospect.  His name is Gideon and he amazes us everyday with his presence and charm.  For our client mares, we had oddly enough had all bay fillies born from Florida to New York.  Rue created 5 bay fillies and and 4 gray colts with his total offspring currently at 38 total and evenly distributed between sexes.

              2023

We had an exciting year at the farm with our mare Preia being sold prior to the birth of her foal to upper level event riders Susie and Amanda Beale. Preia had a healthy Cerulean Nightlife colt for the Beale family that they will produce for eventing.  Our mare Qismah had her first Cerulean Nightlife foal, a stunning grey colt we call Qismet.  We also welcomed 7 healthy foals from client mares across the country, two of which were full purebred Irish Draughts, for a total of 9 2023 foals on the ground.   Rue's total offspring at the end of 2023 is 29, 15 colts and 14 fillies.

              2022

SLSH had three new foals from Cerulean Nightlife to add to the family this spring, two fillies and one colt, all gray.  His foals from outside breedings all arrived without incident as well, putting his annual offspring on the ground to 8 and his total offspring to 20.   His first baby, Cerulean's Delight continued showing in eventing this year as a four year old.  Three year old, Breeland, was started under saddle and has proven to be following in her father's footsteps with her willingness to please and quiet nature.   Several babies moved to new homes across the country.

              2021

Rue has 8 confirmed mares in foal for 2022. Dr. Ronda Stavisky has been instrumental in gaining more interest in him by adding him to her stallion roster and improving the quality of his semen for shipping with her vast expertise.  We are so excited for the arrival of new foals next year!  Huge thank you to all our clients who bred to Rue!  At SLSH, we welcomed the arrival of three healthy foals and also one outside mare who foaled a lovely black colt.  Rue's first foal from 2018 was started under saddle this year!  We are so impressed by the easy going attitude and quality of their gaits and jumping form.  We attended  another Young Horse show with a filly from 2019 who scored 9's and was so impressive over fences.  To date, about 50% of his foals have been gray, while the other 50% have been a variety of coat colors, including pinto.  In addition, the year ended with Rue's first baby attending her first schooling three phase show with her owner Hana Swales aboard.

              2020

We bred four mares successfully this year as well who all foaled out uneventfully in 2021.  We welcomed our three foals  from last year's breedings and our client's mare also had her healthy baby too. Rue's first baby turned two this year and attended the Young Horse Show with great marks and compliments from the judges. We acquired additional broodmares too this year. Rue's babies were two bays and two grays out of TB and Warmblood mares.

              2019

We bred four mares including one outside mare all of which had wonderful healthy babies in 2020.  Three healthy foals were born at SLSH and we enjoyed the year of their growth and development learning what to expect from Rue's offspring.  Rue's babies were two grays and two bays out of TB and warmblood mares.

              2018

Our first foal was born this year and we were so happy to have an fantastic broodmare who took right to her new job.  We bred three of our own mares this year too who successfully became pregnant on their first try.  Rue became acquainted with the mount and breeding routine with Breeding Manager, Katie Korsack this year.  We are so grateful for all she taught Rue and the education in breeding and foaling we received as well.

              2017

We brought Rue home late in July from Kentucky to successfully breed one of our TB mares to him.  Being so new and green in the process, we spent the rest of year getting to know one another and establishing a relationship.
